TOMORROW (Friday, September 19), don’t miss The Art of Me at Midwest Special Services – Oakdale Center! This FREE performance has been created collaboratively by Upstream Arts teaching artists and participants from the MSS locations in both Oakdale Center and St. Paul. The show starts at 6pm sharp, so beat the rush hour traffic and get ready to, as one of our participants put it, “Shake your booty, if you please.”
This fall, Upstream Arts is offering more opportunities than ever to see our work in action. The Art of Me, one of our newest program tracks, focuses on self-expression and artistic collaboration – and always includes a culminating public performance and/or exhibition. In addition to exploring multiple art forms while building vital social and communication skills, The Art of Me allows participants to gain a whole new level of experience in artistic production by developing and publicly presenting work alongside professional artists.
We’re proud to be partnering with Midwest Special Services (MSS) to carry out The Art of Me with three groups of adults with disabilities over the next few months. All three programs will culminate in FREE public performances at locations throughout the Twin Cities metro area:
- Friday, September 19, 6pm, at MSS Oakdale Center (3400 Granada Ave N #190, Oakdale, MN)
- Friday, November 21, 6pm, at MSS Eagan (3265 Northwood Circle #180, Eagan, MN)
- Friday, December 19, 6pm, at MSS Brooklyn Park (7600 Boone Ave N #86, Brooklyn Park, MN)
